No one chooses mental illness to be part of their story, yet for so many of us it is.
For the past 7 years I have actively and passionately worked towards breaking the stigma associated with mental illness. I have spoken across Australia to youth, adults, parents, teachers and corporate companies. I have appeared live on ABC News, Channel 10 and Channel 7. My story has been featured in CLEO magazine, The Sunday Times, The Australian and many local newspapers. In 2014 I was the official Ambassador for Mental Health Week in WA. And then last year I finally filled my dream of writing and publishing my book, The War Within.
I have pushed myself, challenged myself, scared myself and asked so much of myself on a daily basis, to live outside of my comfort zone and just keep being a light that helps break up the darkness that so many people are trapped within.
It is now time to do that again.
In October I'll be trekking 135kms over 5 days from Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse to Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse in the South West of WA and I'm absolutely shit scared!! I seriously have shaking hands & a trillion butterflies in my tummy even typing this!
But one thing I have learnt over my journey of living with, battling and recovering from Anorexia, Depression, Anxiety, Self Harm and Suicidal experiences is that fear has no weight and loses all its power when you're determined to just keep going.
If my story, a presentation, a mentoring session, a coaching session, my book, my friendship, my support - anything at all that I've shared over the past 7 years has inspired or helped you, I'm asking for your help now.
$5 for your cup of coffee tomorrow. $10 for your lunch. $50 for an outing.
Please choose to put it towards the crucial funds needed for Zero2Hero’s youth suicide prevention programs.
I have worked closely with Zero2Hero for many years now and I have never seen a program full of more heart, soul, hope, love, value and support than this one.
It. Changes. Lives.
It. Keeps. People. Alive.
It. Breaks. The. Stigma.
I'll do the hard yards and trek my arse off in October. Can you please just open your hearts and your wallets and support me so we can together support our youth in suicide prevention.
I’ll keep you updated along the way so we can be in this together,
Amy
