Violence against women/domestic violence is a huge problem here in Australia, it actually costs the economy $22 billion a year! It is the leading contributor to illness, disability, homelessness for women and children as well as premature death to women aged18-44. On average, one woman a week is murdered by her current or former partner. ONE A WEEK!! This year a few friends and myself have decided to try and raise money for women and children experiencing domestic violence by taking part in the 4km run/walk from Grange jetty to Henley beach 7am on 24th March.
