Lyn's Trek to Myanmar for Catholic Mission

Having reached the end of my fundraising journey I just wanted to thank everyone again for their wonderful support.
I surpassed my original goal of $3500 by over $1500.
It was a wonderful experience visiting Myanmar, meeting the local people and taking part in the trek.
I would encourage everyone if they get the chance to take part in similar fundraising experiences. You never know what you can achieve until you try!

We have just finished our three day trek, feet are sore shoulders are killing me and I have a number of bruises. It has been an amazing experience shared with 6 other fundraisers, our guide and Sonja our representive from Catholic Mission.
We have stayed in local villages and eaten the local food / rice and lots of vegetables flavoured with ginger, garlic, pepper, turmeric and onion, all delicious. The villagers grow all their own food, raise chickens and pigs, keep cattle and wAter buffalo. The wAter buffaloes are used to plough the fields and they do an amazing job. The soil is very red.
Today we fly to Yangon and spend the next two days visiting the schools and teacher training colleges that we are all supporting through Catholic Mission.

Tomorrow is the big day. We have been in Myanmar for a couple of days now meeting the local people, tasting the local food and visiting the beautiful pagodas. However tomorrow we start our trek from Kalaw in the Chen state. The moment has come when we all fulfil our original commitment to trek for 3 days to support the work of Catholic Mission in training teachers and providing educational opportunities for the children of Myanmar.
Thanks to all who have supported my fundraising so far. Please help to spread the word to others by sharing this page. It would be wonderful to raise over $5000.

I had a very successful fundraising event last weekend - a Veducci fashion parade and afternoon tea, plus a raffle. Everyone enjoyed themselves and $757.00 was raised on the day. We also get 10% of sales so this should take the amount raised to $1000 which is quite amazing. Everyone has been very generous. If my total goes to $4500 it will $1000 more than I originally set out to raise! Thanks to everyone for your support.

Wow, I can't believe it. Less than 3 months to I start my Myanmar trek. I have started to train to improve my fitness. My daughter has me up at 5am 5 days a week to go for a brisk 5km walk on the Dungog Common.

The total raised from my high tea from ticket sales, donations and the raffle came to $1829. A big thank you to my family, friends and supporters who are helping me reach my goal of $3500. I am exhausted but it was all worth it. Only about $800 to go. Thanks again.

My first fundraising event will be a vintage High Tea which I am planning for the 1st September. I am busy collecting as many old fashioned cups/saucers and plates as I can. I found these yesterday in a secondhand shop!
