Scout Sunflower

13.5.15 Scout Sunflower Macpherson was born still into this world in a room filled with love.

In the coming days we would be presented with many decisions we would need to make, things that no parent should ever have to contemplate. One of the best decisions we would make would be to leave the four walls of our hospital room, walk down the hallway to the ‘Butterfly room’ and have photographs taken with our baby girl.

We walked into that room where we met Jerusha (who volunteers for Heartfelt) her eyes met ours with kindness and a softness that our hearts so desperately needed. In the middle of that room our beautiful Scout lay still in a bassinet dressed in an outfit her Mas' had bought her, wrapped in a blanket knitted by her Great Nana, with a pink beanie on her head. In that room we (her mama and dada) spent time holding our little girl, implanting the memory of her deep in our soul, ensuring we would remember every inch of her forever, her button nose and her tiny fingers and toes. The time we had with her was never going to be enough but thanks to our beautiful soul Jerusha, our Heartfelt angel, we have tangible memories of our last moments with our beautiful little girl. Photographs that our family will treasure for the rest of our lives, photographs of our daughter, of the boys’ big sister, of a granddaughter, of a niece, of a cousin, of a little soul gone far too soon. Help us to give that gift, that tangible memory, that photograph with the greatest meaning to many more families, to families in the depths of grief, who may not even know it is something they need but it will be something they will most certainly treasure forever.
