Eliza x The Tiwi Islands are a part of the Northern Territory, 80km North of Darwin with a small population of approx. 3000 and historically a high prevalence of youth suicide, endemic poverty and unemployment, along with significant issues of nutrition and hydration. A colleague of mine began a project in 2009 to build a college and improve the welfare of the locals, particularly in youth. His foundation has raised >$3,000,000 to date, making a vast improvement with these issues and is painting a brighter future for Tiwi. I plan to visit for a week in November to offer help with the college kids e.g. reading, writing, playing sport, gardening, cooking with them, and I am hoping you can help me raise a min $2,500 (which Macquarie will match = $5k) for ongoing maintenance and growth of the project. 100% of donations will be put into the Tiwi College (I will be funding my trip).
