In March this year I am participating in the Whitelion Three Peaks Challenge. The aim is to reach the summit of three peaks within Australia; Mt Tennent (ACT), Mt Kosciuszko (NSW – highest mountain in Australia) and Mt Bogong (VIC), in just 33 hours over 2 days.
I will also be raising funds to assist young people at risk to build better lives for themselves and find the courage to choose a better future through the work of the non-profit community charity, Whitelion.
Whitelion opens doors to opportunities for youth at risk aged 10-25, with specialist youth outreach services including case management, housing, mentoring, education and employment programs. By connecting these young people back to their community, Whitelion provides them with practical and effective supports that enable them to make positive choices in their lives.
The young people that Whitelion supports have seldom had positive influences in their lives; many come from backgrounds that are characterised by multi-generational disadvantage, unemployment, substance abuse and offending behaviour. These young people require consistent, practical and intensive support to break the cycle of disadvantage and reach their full potential.
Today Whitelion provides intensive support to around 2,000 young people, in addition to supporting many thousands more through street outreach services, however there are many more needing help.
Thanks
Sam
Good work Sam
