The ACU Midwifery Society prides itself on improving birthing conditions and empowering women globally. In 2015 we fundraised and held our inaugural birth kit assembly night with great success. Our efforts equated to 1000 birth kits being distributed to vulnerable women in Nigeria, Africa. In 2016 we successfully reached our goal of 2000 birth kits. The birth kits were distributed to vulnerable women in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa.
After great success our annual birthing kit assembly night is going a head again 2017. So please join us by sharing this page, donating and coming along to the assembly night.
An estimated 385,000 women die annually in childbirth, many from preventable infection. Birthing kits contain the essential items that reduce the chance of newborn babies contracting deadly diseases such as HIV and tetanus.
Each kit contains; a sheet of plastic, soap, gloves, string, gauze and a sterile scalpel blade all in a small press seal plastic bag. With an individual cost of only $3 you have the potential to save lives for less then what you would pay for your morning coffee.
