What if you had no-one to talk to, or your burden was so heavy you couldn’t share it with the ones you love? What if your loved ones couldn’t understand?

Lifeline is always there for people at times in their lives when they feel like they have no one else to turn to. People contact us by phone and online for a range of reasons but the most common is seeking help around suicidal thoughts.

Today, your support helps UnitingCare Community to operate 10 Lifeline Crisis Centres across Queensland so we can be there. Thank you for helping us to be there when someone calls. Each dollar you give saves lives.

Startlingly, across Australia, every 32 seconds someone is feeling so close to the edge that they need to call Lifeline, but not every call is answered in time. Your donations mean so much to the callers who reach out to us and will help us save more lives.

Our trained Crisis Supporters are able to provide the right support for people who feel that there is nowhere to turn and who may be thinking ending their own life is a way to end their pain. To reach out to more people, we operate both the 24-hour Crisis Line and an online chat service. But it’s still not enough. Not every call for help is answered in time

We receive very little Government funding to run our 10 Lifeline Crisis centres and rely heavily on income from our Lifeline Shops, Bookfest events, gifts left in Wills and donations from people like you.

A gift of $ 3,000 will help pay for the training of approximately 1 Crisis Supporter who can then support people on either the phone or through online chat.

It costs us at least $300 per night to provide one overnight seat in our call centre for the darkest hours before dawn

It costs $30 per hour to provide the online chat service helping approximately 2-3 people
