G'day, mates! As a journalist hailing from Austin, Texas, I have been overwhelmed by the warm welcome the wonderful community of Tamworth, Australia has given me since moving out here in January. Now it's my turn to give back and support those who have made me feel at home. Through my work covering local stories, I've heard many good things about Can Assist, a remarkable charity that helps cancer patients in remote and rural areas afford transportation to access life-saving medical services that are often not available in their hometowns. I've decided to take on the Can Do the Distance challenge to support Can Assist and contribute to their vital cause. In the month of August, I'll be running 100km (62 miles for the yanks reading this) to raise funds and awareness for this fantastic charity. But wait, there's more! As if running an average of 20 minutes per day wasn't enough, I've decided to test my limits with weekly workout videos based on your generous donations. How many exercises I do in each video will depend on how much y'all give. For $10, you'll get a shoutout in the workout For $20, you'll get the shoutout plus 20 sit-ups For $40, you'll get the above plus 40 dumbbell presses For $60, you'll get the above plus a 60-second plank For $80, you'll get the above plus 80 bodyweight squats For $100, you'll get the above and 10 burpees! (FYI, I hate burpees) If I get any donations above $100 I'll need to think of a new reward, but we'll burn that bridge when we cross it!
