On January 7, 2016, a catastrophic bushfire wiped out the WA town of Yarloop. Among the 500 residents who lost their homes and possessions, WA drum legend Howie Johnstone lost his home, including all of his drums.
As a working drummer, Howie relies on his instruments to earn a living. While he will be busy dealing with insurance and rebuilding his life, he won't have the time or the funds to restore his instruments right away.
This campaign is to show solidarity with a fellow drummer, human being, top bloke, musical legend and have a beer or two with Howie.
But let's take this beer one step further and pitch in a virtual beer's worth towards replacing Howie's drum kit. If 250 of us have one beer with him, we'll be able to roughly match his previous cymbal set. Anything beyond that will help, too!
Update: since we have received so many generous donations, we've updated the fundraising target from "replace his cymbals" towards "and his drums, and maybe a few drumsticks", as mycause will keep any donations exceeding the target.
Thanks everyone who already has donated, and thanks in advance for every further donation!
Let's get this man back on stage again and have a beer or two for Howie!
Cheers!
Great gig at Music in the Vines tonight Howie. I'm also a volunteer firey, and a drummer. I have a collection of Zyldjian A custom cymbals I can donate if that helps.
