The Lions Cancer Institute was established in 1990 as a District Project at a Convention of the Lions Clubs in District 201W2 with the support of the Lions Clubs in District 201W1, such Clubs being located South and North of the Swan River.
Since it's early days the Institute has funded research into the disease by supporting PhD Students in their studies into cancer. The free skin cancer screenings were and still continue to be available to the WA regional communities and the Lions Skin Cancer Screening Unit has visited all parts of the State providing this invaluable service.
