YOUR SUPPORT WILL CHANGE LIVES!

The John Maclean Foundation (JMF) exists to change the lives of young Australians who use wheelchairs. Our mission is to inspire, motivate and enable these great kids to chase their dreams. The Grants we provide these families enables their children to remain active and included in their everyday lives ... A right that every child should have.

Did you know:

  • A bathroom hoist can cost more than $10,000. Without it means the parents often need medical attention for their backs.
  • Whilst modifications to make a vehicle accessible for a young wheelie costs in excess of $20,000; modifications can only be made to specific types of vehicles that are less than ten years old. This can make the purchase over $70,000.
  • A power wheelchair can cost as much as $20,000. And if the child is lucky enough to have one they usually have to leave it at school because the family can't afford a modified vehicle.
  • An average custom manual wheelchair for a child costs around $5,000. Children outgrow wheelchairs like they outgrow shoes.
  • A swing for the child to play in costs $700. Can you imagine a childhood without a swing?

In most cases our grant recipient families
are surviving on extremely low incomes,
and limited Government assistance,
whilst incurring extraordinary costs associated
with the welfare of their child.

Back in 2009, when John Maclean OAM founded the John Maclean Foundation, John found that due to the large expenses involved most children were struggling to even get out the door, which created a major hurdle for any possibility of achieving their dreams.
