WHAT WE DO
The Cooperative Trials Group for Neuro-oncology (COGNO) was established in 2007 and has spent the past 15 years helping to develop new clinical trials focused on brain tumours to improve access for patients and to improve health outcomes. We are always exploring new trial ideas and working with clinicians to develop new concepts that can be explored using clinical trials. These trials are open to patients across Australia.
In the last 5 years, we have run 10 national trials in neuro-oncology. We are always exploring new trial ideas and working with clinicians to develop new concepts that can be explored using clinical trials. These trials are open to patients in both metropolitan and rural sites across Australia.
WHY IT'S IMPORTANT
For the past 30 years the number of people surviving other types of cancers has steadily improved but the five-year survival rate for brain cancer has stayed low at?around 22%. We need more research to discover new treatments and improve survival. Clinical trials provide the link between research, clinical practice, and improved outcomes.? It's important that clinical trials for brain cancer continually respond to new research, strive to adapt that research across the full range of clinical practice contexts, and improve equity of access to improved outcomes.
WHAT DONATIONS ARE FOR
While we are funded by the Australian Government through the Support for Cancer Clinical Trials Program run by Cancer Australia. We are asking for donations to help us support our network of researchers to start new trials across Australia and to increase the size of our network. By growing our network, we will be able to work with more partners to deliver trials in more locations. This will improve access for people with brain cancer to participate in clinical trials.
Your support today will help COGNO Limited to continue ongoing data collection for clinical trials and will assist us in planning for future trials in brain cancer.
