The Australia and New Zealand Sarcoma Association (ANZSA) is the peak body for the sarcoma community. ANZSA aims to improve outcomes for sarcoma patients through research, education and awareness of sarcomas and related tumours.

	 

	Sarcoma research receives significantly less funding than other types of cancers due to the rarity and varied types of sarcoma tumours. As a result, sarcoma researchers have limited resources to work on projects that may be the next breakthroughs in sarcoma diagnosis or treatment.

My beautiful Mamma-in-law fought the toughest battle of her life about this time last year but very much came out on top and kicked her Leiomyosarcoma to the curb. It took a lot of courage, hope, resilience, positive thinking and has been the most amazing miracle. We are so very grateful for everyone and everything that contributed to getting her past her finish line and for now coming up to 12 months post surgery and LMS free!This year I am dedicating my half marathon to her and raising some funds for sarcoma research in her honour and in the hope that more families will also be able to celebrate their loved ones beating the odds.

In April this year we received the devastating news that Chris had a rare and aggressive cancer called  Leiomyosarcoma (LMS).  Not only was it rare but it was also in a rare location being present in his palate, Sinus and nasal area.  He had to undergo life changing major surgery to remove the tumour as well as radiotherapy. Chris has had a great medical team throughout his process and since his diagnosis, we have come to realise that sarcoma’s are underfunded and unfortunately often found too late so this is just one of the reasons we have decided to support this amazing cause and raise money to help those battling, those survivors and those who sadly lost their battle to this awful disease. 

Until now, Chris asked for privacy and kept his battle amongst immediate family and close friends only.  In order to raise vital funds we now feel it is time to share Chris's story and together beat this awful disease!
