Look Good Feel Better is a free, national community service program, run by the Cancer Patients Foundation. The program has been designed to help cancer patients learn practical strategies to manage the physical, psychological and social impacts of cancer treatment. Since the first workshop in Sydney in May 1990, more than 170,000 women, men and teens undergoing cancer treatment across Australia have benefitted from participating.

	 

	Three services are offered as part of the Look Good Feel Better program – Face-to-Face workshops, Virtual Workshops and Home-Delivered Confidence Kits. These services have been developed with the purpose of empowering those undergoing cancer treatment by equipping them with the practical skills and knowledge needed to face their cancer diagnosis with confidence.

	 

	The Cancer Patients Foundation, responsible for running the Look Good Feel Better program, is an independent not-for-profit organisation, not affiliated with any other cancer charity or support service. With no government funding, the Cancer Patients Foundation relies on the generosity of corporate and community supporters to ensure all Australians have access to the program, free-of-charge.

A little cut, a big meaning. Donating my hair this year in honour of Dad, our journey and everyone who needs a little strength. This year I’ll be cutting and donating over 40cm of my hair, something I’ve done every three years, almost without thinking. But this year, everything feels different. My heart is in a completely new place. Last year, when Dad was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, our whole world shifted in a single moment. The hurt, the fear, the uncertainty, it was overwhelming in a way I could never have imagined. Those first days and weeks felt like we were holding our breath constantly, hoping for good news, bracing for the worst and trying to make sense of a situation that felt completely beyond our control. Then came surgery, which brought its own challenges and fears. Watching him face it with courage, even on the hardest days, reminded me what true strength really looks like. It wasn’t just Dad who faced the challenge, our entire family felt the weight of it. Every appointment, every update, every sleepless night carried its own fear and worry. And through it all, we were surrounded by incredible support from friends, extended family and colleagues who went above and beyond to offer encouragement, help and kindness. Their generosity carried us through days that felt impossibly hard and reminded us that even in the darkest moments, connection and compassion make a world of difference. This donation is more than a routine act this year, it’s my way of honouring his journey, the strength of our family and the generosity of everyone who lifted us when we needed it most. If this hair can bring even a little comfort, strength or confidence to someone else facing their own battles, then it’s worth every strand. Alongside donating my hair, I’m raising funds for Look Good Feel Better, an organisation that supports people undergoing cancer treatment. They help people manage visible side effects and rediscover comfort and confidence when it’s needed most.
