Connections UnitingCare
Connections UnitingCare is a community organisation with a long and proud history of supporting marginalised and disadvantaged children, young people and families in Melbourne’s south and east. We have a vision of empowered children, young people and families enjoying wholeness and fullness of life within socially inclusive communities. We will boldly and sensitively seek out and actively engage children, young people and families experiencing marginalisation and disadvantage to create opportunities for safe and nurtured living.
What We Do
Connections runs over 40 programs and services to help people in need from 10 locations across Melbourne’s south and east. Read about how our programs assisted Emma, Tina and Thorne to get their lives back on track.
Emma’s Story
New Years Day is often a defining moment in the lives of many, but particularly for Emma... on January 1 2000 at age 16, she discovered she was pregnant. Find out how Connections Starting Out program for young mothers helped Emma here.
Tina’s Story
From a young age Tina was exposed to many things that a child should never have to endure, things that she will hold with her forever. The eldest of three siblings to a single mother, Tina was raised in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Life was never easy. Tina had grown up in a challenging environment exposed at a very early age to physical, mental and sexual abuse, she experienced depression and a key family member was unable to receive effective treatment for serious mental illness. It wasn’t long until Tina found her life spiraling out of control. Read how Tina overcame her problems with the help of Connections here.
Thorne's Story
Robbery, theft, unlawul assault, driving unlicensed, driving unregistered, possession of a prohibited weapon, threat to kill, assault with deadly weapon... Thorne’s list of charges read like those of a seasoned criminal. Now, at 19, Thorne is turning his life around thanks in part to the Connections UnitingCare program Clean Slate. Find out more here.
