Women & Children First

Women & Children First is a community-based charity providing emergency accommodation and critical and ongoing support services to women and children experiencing and/or escaping domestic violence. Our programs focus on:

 

Safety: Crisis housing through our refuges on the Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore and trauma-informed case management and care.

Empowerment: Empowering survivors to heal and rebuild through education programs on healthy relationships, parenting and wellbeing.

Advocacy and Prevention: Advocating for change in policies, breaking the cycle of abuse and creating safer communities through engagement and education programs.

 

Whilst we receive some funding from the Government, it is not sufficient to keep up with the growing need for support. In the last financial year, we supported 836 women, but we are only funded to support 200 women a year - and this does not include any additional funding for children.

 

This is why we heavily rely on the support of our community, so we have the funds needed to continue to provide services and expand to meet the growing need.
