What is Epilepsy?
Epilepsy is a common and often devastating neurological condition that causes seizures. It can reduce people’s employment and education opportunities, impact relationships, diminish quality of life and can cause death. It can be very isolating - the stigma around epilepsy is extreme.
Epilepsy can develop at any stage of life and one million Australians today will be diagnosed with epilepsy at some point in their lives.
Without support, it can ruin lives and 90% of Australians don’t have the epilepsy support they need.
How does the Epilepsy Foundation Help?
The Epilepsy Foundation ensures that no one with epilepsy ever has to go it alone by providing support services and information, educating and training schools, employers and the community to be “Epilepsy Smart” and advancing a cure through the Australian Epilepsy Research Fund.
