Standing Tall is an early intervention School Based Mentoring Program working with students who are displaying signs of disengagement at an early stage in their school life and ultimately 'at risk' of leaving school without a proper education.
Standing Tall recruits and trains volunteer members of the community to become mentors to these students working with them for one hour per week during school hours.
Strong mentoring relationships do make a real difference to a young person facing a range of life's challenges which they struggle to deal with on a daily basis.
To provide an opportunity for every young person to feel a sense of belonging.
To train and support community membors as they mentor young people.
To partner with schools and the community in providing resource.
To ensure the safety of children in accordance with the Victorian Child Safe Standards.
The Standing Tall model of school based mentoring is based on our:
Values of integrity, trust, respect and shared responsibility.
belief that the benefits of mentoring come from the development of a trusting relationship and all practices of the program are designed to allow this to take place.
Aim to deliver a program where all participants are valued.
