The primary purpose of the SWSLHD Cancer Service is to provide timely, high quality, comprehensive and compassionate care to people within the Area who are affected by cancer and to those referred to our facilities and services for specialist care.
SWSLHD Cancer Service is at the leading edge of cancer treatment and research in Australia. These facilities provide comprehensive Oncology consultative services, as well as Specialty Surgery, Radiation treatment, Chemotherapy, Palliative Care, Haematology, Cancer Genetics and Psychology services. Integrated multidisciplinary teams specialise in high activity tumour groups, currently in the areas of Breast, Gynaecology, Haematology, Head and Neck, Genito-Urinary, Lung, Colorectal, Upper Gastro-Intestinal and Neurology.
We have a full schedule of support programmes for families, carers and staff, as well as education materials for specific tumour groups, and supportive care pathways.
The Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre (MCTC) opened in February 2003, providing cancer services to the adult population of Macarthur, Wollondilly and Wingecarribee. The centre offers Oncology Consultative Services, Chemotherapy, Radiation, Allied Health and Support Services:
