This Life Cambodia is an award-winning NGO which works with Cambodian children, families and communities to overcome challenges including poverty, limited educational opportunities, drugs, crime, violence and unneccessary family separation.
We work with communities who face the greatest challenges yet have the desire and the drive to enact change. What they need are the tools, training, and skills to tackle their community’s specific development issues. Local communities are the experts at identifying their problems and priorities. They often have great ideas and what they need are the ways and means to take ownership of resolving their greatest challenges.
We were the recipient of the Stars Impact Award (2015), in recognition of the impact our programming makes on addressing complex social justice issues including violence against women and children, juvenile justice and access to education. We are registered in Cambodia as an International NGO, as a Public Benevolent Institution in Australia, and we’re Governance and Professional Practice (GPP) certified by the Cooperation Committee for Cambodia (CCC).
Our campaigning on behalf of Cambodian families and against domestic violence have been extremely successful in Cambodia and acclaimed internationally, with our latest End Violence Together campaign currently shortlisted for two major awards in Australia. Campaigning through social media is one way we create major social changes with minimal costs.
Our programs within Cambodia are all community driven, including:
· This Life Beyond Bars - working with young people in conflict with the law, with the ultimate goal of successful rehabilitation, including vocational training.
· This Life Reuniting Families - working with children who have been unnecessarily sent away from parents to live in residential care, enabling them to return home to a loving family.
· This Life in Community - working to strengthen communities to avoid family break up.
· This Life Without Violence - working within communities to reduce domestic violence and support victims.
· Lower Secondary School Development Program - working to improve public secondary schools.
