SisterWorks is a not-for-profit social enterprise that supports women who are migrants, asylum seekers or refugees to become financially independent and happily settled in Australia.
These women are some of the community’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged newcomers. They face social isolation, domestic violence, long-term unemployment and dependence on government welfare.
SisterWorks firmly believes that “Work Empowers Women” and our programs support our Sisters to develop practical skills for employment such as IT literacy, buisness, leadership, teamwork and creativity.
SisterWorks functions through Empowerment Hubs that act as workplaces and training centres. We have 5 labs in Support, Design & Cooking, Digital, Business and Pathways. These are safe and nurturing spaces where the Sisters 'learn by doing', share knowledge and support each other as they grow.
Our Hubs are located in Richmond, Bendigo and Dandenong. They are a centralised meeting place to prevent isolation, connect with each other and their local and global communities.
