The Animal Protection Society at 27 Talbot Road, Southern River is a not-for-profit safe haven for abandoned cats and dogs.
The Refuge has been incorporated since 1974 and is run by a wonderful group of volunteers which includes a volunteer management committee. All help clean and care for the animals.
We have up to 24 dogs, 65 cats and 45 kittens (in kitten season) at any one time, all of whom seek a new family and home.
We are also seeking foster families. We have a no kill policy and the dogs and cats reside at the Refuge until they find new owners.
The Refuge is open to the public seven days a week from 10am to 3pm and visitors are welcome to come and have a look around.
If you would like to volunteer you would be welcomed with open arms! You can volunteer from about 8am to 6pm, you choose the time. We greatly require help in the mornings and from mid afternoon, though help any time of the day is much appreciated.
View our adorable cats and dogs here on our website or on the Pet Rescue website.
