WOLTi provides intensive life skills, emotional education, employment training, education, case management and other supportive services to disadvantaged youth who are homeless or experiencing abuse at home. Our mission is to promote safety and self sufficiency among the Aussie youth most in need.
On any given night in Australia in 2018, there are 44,083 homeless youth according to Australian Bureau of Statistics
Every young person deserves the opportunity to have a go at life - to be the best they can be regardless of gender, cultural background, disadvantaged upbringing, mental illness, medical condition etc.
These young people feel unsafe and incapable to see any kind of future for them selves. Their desperate situation leads them to depression, long-term homelessness and in some cases to suicide; but there is HOPE through WOLTi’s life lessons program and the individual support we provide. It brings a beginning of optimism through a caring environment and a self-discovery path to confidence and motivation.
WOLTi works passionately assisting Australian youth most in need or at risk. It is our priority to help them have a place to call home, tofeel safe, healthy, and appreciated so they are capable to work hard and build a positive future. We help bring the emotional stability that allows their motivation to rise, for hope to develop, and we give them a hand up to get started in the difficult task of leaving hardship behind and commencing a positive, productive, happy and healthy life.
Our program firstly addresses their safety and home stability, and then utilises an effective method to guide them through a self-discovery journey where they realise their natural skills and use them as a basis to, with our help, plan for a career path until they can stand on their own two feet.
WOLTi offers the continued constant support in their lives that joins other services, bringing a sense of stability and our policy is to be inclusive of all community and government groups therefore we have the links and working relationships to make the most of all assistance out there.
According to Human Development Principles, there is an inherent change every human being goes through in their teenage years, going from child to adulthood. During this period, there is an opportunity for them to not only change to adulthood, but also to a more positive life given the right information and positive emotional support. With the WOLTi program, they understand they have a choice and almost 100% of the time they choose to be independent and be in charge of their own future and do something positive for themselves. It is said that 'it takes a community to bring up a child' - so we ask you to please help us provide the support these young Australians need to change their lives from desperation to hopefulness because we all deserve the opportunity to have a go.
The only obstacle WOLTi suffers is the lack of funding to be able to assist every young person in need and be able to bring the program to every area possible. If you know a young person that needs guidance or have seen a homeless young Australian, please show you care by offering your support, as little or as much as you can will make a difference as every bit helps. As the wisdom of an amazing woman was once shared “If you can’t help a hundred people, then help one!” (Mother Teresa)
