ABOUT US:
With only three staff members and providing over $600,000 of assistance; Rise Above is small but our impact is huge!
Rise Above has been helping residents of the Canberra/Queanbeyan region financially in their fight against cancer since 1986, we started out as ‘The Cancer Support Group’ and in 2017 we began life as Rise Above - Capital Region Cancer Relief.
The cost of a cancer diagnoses can be insurmountable, having not only a physical and emotional effect - but also financially. We believe patients should be able to concentrate on treatment and the important things in life - this is where Rise Above steps in and assists in the following ways:
HOW WE ASSIST:
- Chemist Account - covering the cost of cancer related medications
- Food/Fuel Vouchers - we are able to offer patients $100 food/fuel vouchers which can be offered every 7 days if needed
- Electricity/Gas Account - Rise Above can make a one-off payment of up to $300 on to an electricity/gas bill
- Chemotherapy - When a patient is charged for chemotherapy, Rise Above makes direct payment to the supplier on the patients behalf
- Hospital Prescribed Dietary Supplements - Rise Above order, make payment and organise delivery for patients put on supplements
OUR MISSION:
Rise Above will support its patient and their families to cope with the impact of cancer on their lives by providing financial and in-kind assistance, which supports them to maintain independence, build resilience, maintain family cohesion and strengthen social networks.
