Got Your Back Sista is a registered charity dedicated to providing support and relief to women and children who have experienced domestic and family violence.

Our vision is to see women and their children happy, thriving and living independently after escaping the trauma of domestic violence.

Our aim is to educate and empower women to thrive after the trauma they have experienced - we do this through:

Individual Casework Support

Our support team provide a one-on-one service which includes:

1. Personalised information and advice
2. Referrals to legal services
3. Housing organisations
4. Counselling and emotional support
5. Assistance accessing financial support where possible

Programs/Courses

We run a variety of programs and short courses to help women heal from the trauma they have experienced. These programs aim to rebuild confidence, self-esteem and manage their stress and anxiety. We also deliver courses that teach new skills such as cooking nutritious food on a budget.

School Programs

Dedicated to young women in high school, our EmpowerYOU program is a 6 week program run by Got Your Back Sista facilitators who talk about something that affects all of us: relationships. Not just romantic ones—we’re talking about friendships, family connections, and how we relate to the people around us every day.

Understanding what makes relationships healthy (and what doesn’t) gives real power—power to build connections that make you feel good, and power to recognise when something isn’t right.

Begin Again

Provides women and children with furniture, white goods and household items when moving from a refuge or violent home to independent living.

Workplace Readiness Course

GYBS's education programs are a pathway to employment so women can become financially independent. Our Workplace Readiness Program is a 16-week course incorporating vocational skills training, work experience and confidence building. We have an 80% success rate in helping women to gain employment.
