About Us

Healthy Hips Australia (HHA) is working to improve awareness, support and early diagnosis for hip dysplasia. HHA is the only hip dysplasia support & awareness organisation in Australia.

About Hip Dysplasia

Also known as developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), this is a common condition, where the hip joint either misaligns or lacks in growth, that health professionals aim to diagnose early in babies. It can result in months — and in some cases years — of medical treatment. Left undiagnosed, it’s one of the leading causes of early-onset arthritis of the hip. Despite this, awareness of DDH and support for people impacted by it in Australia is limited.

1 in 6 newborns have some hip instability at birth.

Globally, an average of 4-5 per 1000 newborns require treatment for hip dysplasia. In Australia up to 1 in 50 babies require treatment. This has to change.

Why Donate To HHA?

We are a fully volunteer-run organisation. We rely on community support to achieve our goals. With your help, HHA will have a greater ability to reach more Australians and educate about the importance of facilitating hip-health from birth across the lifespan, as well as support those working with and impacted by hip dysplasia.

Healthy Hips Australia Ltd is licensed to collect on-line donations to support the work we do. Fundraising legislation varies for each state and territory. We are working towards registration in all states and territories and are currently able to fundraise in the following; Western Australia, South Australia, Northern Territory, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory. Donations made over $2 are tax deductible. Our Australian Business Number is ABN 75 605 680 411.
