In 2011, the Music Teachers’ Association of Queensland celebrated its 90th year. The association was formed to advance and protect the interests of music teachers and to represent the music teaching profession in Queensland. The Association also aims to:

advance musical culture in Queensland,

encourage the highest standards of teaching music,

establish of code of ethics,

review and recommend tuition fees,

provide and maintain a library,

provide social opportunities amongst members and
-
maintain friendly relationships with other professional organisations.

Professional, Associate and Student membership is available to music teachers in Queensland, with relevant qualifications. The Association provides a referral service for people seeking private music teachers.
The Association holds professional development workshops throughout the year, hosts competitions in various regions of the State, and provides performance opportunities and scholarships for students to encourage our young performers.
