Coolum HeARTs is an organization aimed at providing free access to the arts – e.g. singing, drumming and art – to people who live with significant challenges in their lives – mental illnesses, intellectual and physical disabilities, social isolation, effects of alcohol and drug abuse, domestic violence, chronic loneliness and long term unemployment.
Research has proven that painting, singing and drumming releases seratonin in a person's brain and thus raises the mood. This is our objective - to invite people living with real challenges on a daily basis - to come along and join a relaxed, non-threatening and welcoming group of people for several hours once or twice a week.
As regards the choir, there is no pressure to perform, just a willingness to enjoy and sing from your heart in a safe, supportive and friendly environment. We have two very talented and approachable musical directors to learn from.
Take a step out and challenge yourself to do something you may always have wanted to do, but fear or something else got in the way. This is a great way to leave your concerns at home and just relax for a couple of hours!!!
