Highlights of Some of the Biggest Australian Causes this June

mycause was delighted to work with a range of worthy causes in June 2016.

This past month, Australians raised funds for hundreds of different causes, including cancer treatments, transport costs and to make the final wishes of their loved ones come true.

When Layla was just 17 years old, she was diagnosed with stage III ovarian cancer - one of the youngest Australians to be diagnosed with a condition which usually affects women post menopause.

After several rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and surgery to try and defeat the cancer, Layla was delivered the terrible news that her cancer is terminal.

Despite the shock diagnosis, Layla is determined to enjoy the time that she has left. Proud mother Sallyann and Layla compiled a bucket which includes going to Luna Park and seeing Australia Zoo's African safari.

Over $6000 has been raised to date for Layla’s mycause campaign, which was featured in the Courier Mail, 7 News Toowoomba, WIN News Toowoomba and the Toowoomba Chronicle.

Devoted family man Charlie Grant had dreams to expand his family via IVF, but was instead diagnosed with multiple myeloma blood cancer.

Unfortunately this kind of cancer has no cure - each round of chemotherapy prolongs Charlie’s life. Prior to his diagnosis, Charlie was building the dream shed for his young family, but this halted when the family was delivered the terrible news.

Thanks to the generosity of friends, family and the wider community, the Grant family campaign raised over $16,000, which will no doubt help the family during this heartbreaking time. The Grant family were featured on 7 News Brisbane

Juliana is paddling over 1000kms from Newcastle to Noosa to raise funds for White Ribbon Australia and Surfrider Foundation Australia.

After facing a rough childhood and dealing with her own experiences of domestic violence, teacher and lifeguard Juliana wants to inspire other women and girls in similar situations.

For Juliana, this is the paddle of a lifetime - it will test her mental and physical endurance as she works hard to spread awareness and funds for these charities.

To date, Juliana raised over $26,000 for her paddle. Juliana has been featured in the Daily Mail, Today Show, ABC Newcastle, Yahoo7, SBS and across many other news outlets.

Warrnambool local Aaron was diagnosed with Ethmoidal Rhabdomyosarcoma - a cancerous tumour on his brain.

Aaron was determined to fight - he underwent months of intensive chemotherapy and radiation therapy before being told that his cancer was terminal.

A mycause campaign was launched to support Aaron during this incredibly difficult time and to help him achieve his final wish - to go to the Great Barrier Reef with his family. Aaron’s story was featured on Coast FM Warrnambool and in the Warrnambool Standard.

More than $15,000 was raised for Aaron to achieve his wish, but unfortunately Aaron passed away just days before this dream could become a reality.

mycause campaigns are created each day to support Australians going through a tough time and to raise funds when people are in need of assistance not only through their own crowds, but also from members of the general community.
