Katie Pattison-Hart & James Elliot-Square aim to row for a solid 24 hours alternating each hour to raise as much funds as they can for the legend that is Moe! Not only will they row for a solid 24 hours but also aim to break 300 kilometres on the rowing machine. The Shack have kindly allowed them to use their facilities for the venue for the event.

Moe has arrived in Denver, Colorado and is under going for his next round of treatment. The US location offers Moe access to the best possible treatment but is also home to Moe's brother and sister and their families which will provide Moe with additional support.

Who is Moe??
Mothana Khalfaji (or Moe as he is known) was born in Iraq, in the early 70s, and lived through the struggles of life in Baghdad. After completing his education, and gaining some work experience Moe moved to Dubai for a better life in 2002. He moved there speaking very little English, and having had very limited exposure to Westerners, other than the American music and TV shows that he had access to in Iraq.
Shortly after moving to Dubai, Moe met some rugby lads from the UK, and joined one of the local social rugby teams, the Hurricanes. Whilst they were not the most competitive team in the UAE, they were a very social one, and Moe, being the only Arab in the club quickly learnt how to gel with his new environment and fast became �one of the boys�. Moe walked the ethos of being part of a strongly community based club like the Canes, and whilst he may not have been the best player in the team, he gave all he had each week and joined in all the social activities, personally taking on the job of job of welcoming each new member to the Canes family.
His situation
Unfortunately on request of the Iraqi government a few years ago, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government changed the Immigration rules for Iraqi nationals, making it nearly impossible for them to obtain new visas. Whilst Moe tried several times, via several different connections, he was never ever able to secure a permanent job from that time. In August 2011, Moe was left with no choice but to leave Dubai and moved back to Iraq, where he was able to secure a job with DHL. Sadly, earlier this year, Moe was diagnosed with primary colon cancer and secondary tumours. The complexity of the treatment required a move to Amman, Jordan where he has undergone several operations and intensive chemotherapy. The fundraising to date has been phenomenal and was able to help fund Moe's treatment.
Why we love him and want to help...
Moe is one of those guys, who when you met him you instantly warm to him. He makes friends easily, from all walks of life, and all ages. When some of his friends started advising people about Moe new battle, news spread quickly and they were blown away by the depth of support and stories from people who have met Moe over the years and now live in all corners of the globe. Moe is a person who would give you the shirt off his back � and at few times in his life, this is literally all he had. We, as his friends are doing everything we can to raise funds for Moe to enable him to battle this horrible disease.
