Climbing Kilimanjaro for Cancer

Karen and Deb Short climb Mt. Kilimanjaro for Cancer Research

On the 21st of December 2009 Robert (Bob) Short lost his four year fight against Cancer. Husband to
Karen and Father to Warren and Deb, Rob was an inspiration to many. He maintained his amazing sense
of humor and his passion for life until the very end. We will be climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in his
memory.

On the 21st of December 2010 we will begin our climb to Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania to raise money
for Cancer Research. Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and fourth highest of the ‘Seven
Summits of the World’ with the peak of the mountain rising to an altitude of 19,340 ft (5,895 m)
from base to summit.

During the climb we will walk between 5 to 8 hours a day crossing rainforest, moorland, desert,snow
and ice caps along the way. The final ascent to the summit on Christmas day will begin at midnight
using the moonlight to guide us to the highest point in Africa for a spectacular sunrise.
