The Burraneer Bike Riders are a small group of weekend riders based in the Sutherland Shire. We ride in a number of local fundraising events, and this year we are hosting our own charity ride in September. The team will be riding from Burraneer Bay down the south coast, and our goal is to cover and least 300km in two days.
The ride is to increase public awareness of prostate cancer and to raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA). This particular cause is close to the hearts of the Burraneer Bike Riders because it affects healthy, middle aged men like us. In fact, one of our small group of riders is a prostate cancer survivor.
The disease kills almost 3,300 men per year - which is similar to the annual number of women that die from breast cancer. One in 11 Australian men will develop prostate cancer by age 70. Please give generously to the PCFA to improve the quality of life of prostate cancer sufferers and save lives.
