So this year I did a crazy thing and roped two of my beautiful friends into running my first half marathon with me on July 26th, in the middle of crumby ol' 4th year med.
In addition to lots of running and probably giving ourselves shin splints, each of us are hoping to raise funds for a cause close to our hearts: in my case, the Swan Hill Hospice fund.
As a Balranald girl and now a Swan Hill medical student, I've experienced first hand the difficulties faced in accessing and delivering healthcare in rural areas. With no hospice in Swan Hill currently, patients are required to travel to long distances to access such services, leaving loved ones behind during this difficult time.
I've decided to aim high and set a $1000 fundraising target for the Hospice fund. I would love if you could help support me in my run by putting some money towards a much needed service for our region.
Funds donated to the My cause Gift Fund will be disbursed to Swan Hill Hospice. The trustees will always disburse funds to the nominated cause, however in the case that that is not possible, the funds will be disbursed to a DGR charity at the trustees discretion.
