About

Hi All,

As some of you may know, I have been training in Muay Thai on and off for nearly 2 years now. I have recently decided to have a crack at an amateur Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) tournament fight. The tournament is the Hong Kong White Collar MMA (season 4) http://www.impifc.com/ .You fight for a charity of your choice. I am going to fight for the charity, Hopeful Hearts. https://hopefulheartsguangzhou.shutterfly.com/

Hopeful Hearts helps families with sick children who require surgery but cannot afford to pay for it. Living in China, I see poverty daily. The standard of local hospitals is poor in comparison to countries like Australia. Hopeful Hearts enables children to get the medical care that they so desperately need, and that many of us take for granted back home. Abigail was born in a local hospital here in China, and we witnessed first hand the disparity between those who can afford healthcare and those who cannot. Payment must be made upfront before a doctor can see you. Payment for any surgery must also be made up front. The hospitals provide very little for the patients. No toilet paper, no pyjamas, no towels, no food. This is the responsibility of family members to provide. Blood transfusions, IVs, and medicines will not be given unless they have already been paid for. You can imagine the stress this puts on families that have a sick child in desperate need of a life saving operation, but are unable to pay for these services. The average wage for a blue collar worker in China is around $300aud a month, so emergency surgeries costing thousands of dollars are out of reach for many families. This is why we must support charities like Hopeful Hearts.

So, what do I need from you? As part of my entry into this tournament and as a starter to the fundraising, I am required to buy 15 ringside tickets to the finale. They cost $1000hkd (approx. $160aud) each. I need to raise the funds through your generous donations to purchase the tickets. I will then resell the tickets and give this money directly to the charity, thus raising more than what I would by just fighting. A donation of any size will go a long way. My aim is to raise $7500hkd (approx.$1300aud) by April 30 so that I qualify for entry. I will then look to raise the remaining funds before the finale on July 31.

Of course, if you are able to attend, you can purchase one of the tickets to the event instead of making a donation.

I hope you consider this a worthy cause. Many of you may donate just to see me get beat up! Any donation would be greatly appreciated.

If you choose to donate, I’ll keep you updated regularly on the fundraising, my training and how the tournament is progressing. You can also contact me for more detailed info on the event itself.

Thanks so much for your support.

Cheers
