Thank you for visiting our page. Hopefully with your help we can make a difference. We are now in training to take part in runs ranging from 2km's to 42 km's (that's a whole marathon) at this years Laguna Phuket Marathon in June. Why you may ask?!!? If you have ever met Hugo Barnhurst you will know why! Five year old Hugo suffers from Mitochondrial disease, a metabolic condition which results in Hugo having global developmental delay. Despite his challenges Hugo is an inspiration to us all. Always smiling, Hugo loves life and shows great determination and resilience, as do his family. Hugo's parents were told that his life expectancy would be short but are hopeful of a cure being found, not just for Hugo but for all the other families out there affected by this disease.
Very little is known about this disease. The only way to find a cure is do more research, the only way to do research is to invest more money and the only way to raise money is to raise awareness. This is where we all come in! We want to raise as much awareness and money as possible to support the work of the Australian Mitochondrial Disease Foundation.
Mitochondrial disease has been found to be linked to other diseases such as Autism, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and Diabetes. I am sure we all know someone affected by one of these illnesses so we are asking you to please dig deep and make a difference! We'll do the hard work all you have to do is donate! Any amount no matter how big or small could really help.
