WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? Lexi Gem is the gorgeous daughter of Dino Trentin. We love Dino! He works very closely with us at our Richmond venue Fenix and we consider him part of our Maple Event Group family.
Lexi has Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. This effects her whole body and makes it extremely difficult for her to strengthen her muscles and co-ordinate her movements. There is no cure. However, there are many amazing therapies that can have very positive results. These are very costly and are her only real chance at becoming strong enough to achieve independence.
WHY 10,000 STEPS? As creative as we are, we didn't come up with the idea of 10,000 steps! You may have heard of 'Steptember' - an Aussie initiative that challenges people to take 10,000 steps a day for the month of September to raise money for Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
We heard about this initiative and loved it, but we wanted to ensure our funds raised went directly to Lexi and her family. So we've created our own mini-version of the initiative!
On paper it may not sound like much of a challenge, but the average office worker takes just 3000 steps per day so our team will have to work hard to get to 10,000 each per day!
