This beautiful angel Alyssa was born with "Lissencephaly", Yep a mouth full! Lissencephaly means smooth brain; it is a rare brain condition. Children with Lissencephaly generally have significant developmental delays and suffer severe seizures. The prognosis for children with Lissencephaly depends on the degree of brain malformation. Many will die before the age of 10 years. The cause of death is usually aspiration of food or fluids, respiratory disease, or severe seizures. This beautiful angel this year is celebrating her 8th birthday out living the statistics where life expectancy was said to be around two years of age. We need to get the family car converted so that Alyssa can sit in her wheelchair in the car. At the moment Bec is having to lift Alyssa from her wheelchair and into a car seat that is not made especially for special needs kids. This is hard on Bec and also on Alyssa. Please help us to raise money for this beautiful angel as this is one cost that we can help the family with, as Alyssa's formula and medications are extremely expensive as well. Alyssa is wheelchair bound with no speech, or body functionality, she is fed through a gastrostomy tube in her stomach. This doesn’t stop Alyssa from smiling; one of the most beautiful things about this amazing courageous little girl is her fighting spirit. When you meet her she just lightens the light in your soul. She may not be able to tell you, or show you how much she loves you in the traditional way but her smile tells you she does.
