WRR Fundraiser Ride - Cloncurry To Mount Isa By Horse

Hi and thank you for taking the time to read this.

Since 2018, and with many helping hands along the way, I have been actively fundraising for Cancer Council through Mystery Box Rally. Since we began, we have proudly handed over almost $30,000 to the cause.

This year I want to do something different. Something that would benefit my local community directly. This year I have chosen the Walk Ride Run For Palliative Care (WRR).

What is WRR?
A trek from Cloncurry to Mount Isa to raise funds for a "cuddle bed" for the palliative care unit at the Mount Isa Hospital. Also, just as importantly, it is about raising awareness of pancreatic cancer.

A cuddle bed offer patients and loved ones a compassionate approach to end-of-life care. Essentially they are a large patient bed that can fit 2 or more people. They can have a huge impact on patients who can often feel isolated, and provides family members with the opportunity to feel close in a hospital setting.

When is WRR?
8 days from Saturday 3 July through to Saturday 10 July 2021

Why WRR?
Back in 2018, we lost a very dear friend and well known Mount Isa local to pancreatic cancer. He had talked about riding a horse from the Curry to the Isa, so here we are today - making it happen! I will be riding my horse Music on the trek, together with a bunch of others and an amazing support crew.

How can you support WRR?
We need to raise in the vicinity of $22,000 for cuddle bed, and I have set my initial goal as $2000 to put towards this. A simple cash donation can help us get there!
