My dear friend Alma, unfortunately has been diagnosed with liver cancer. Alma is currently recuperating after having 70% of her liver removed on the 31st January 2021. In early March she will be seen by a specialist, who will decide whether chemotherapy will be the next course of action.
Alma's 23 year old twin daughters are currently stranded in Scotland and have not been able to return home to help their mum recover. The last 12 months have been difficult for the girls due to Covid19 and the ongoing lockdowns in the UK. Alma's daughters have had to survive on only one income, plus some small financial assistance that Alma could provide them. They are currently on the waiting list with tens of thousands other Australians and are seeking to return urgently under compassionate grounds. However, due to the high costs for airfares and hotel quarantine I am aware that Alma cannot assist with this on her own.
Alma has almost exhausted her sick and annual leave, where she will then be left with leave without pay. I am putting this message out there in the hope that we can assist Alma financially to help her get her girls home. I know this would mean the world to Alma, her girls and the family.
