Helping to Rebuild Nepal - Mothersgroup Center in Sera

I have been blessed in my life with access to education, being able to choose my career and having been given endless opportunities along the way. I know I can call myself very lucky to be healthy, having a roof above my head and having a job that I love - now it's time to give back!

I decided to dedicate my long service leave to a construction project in Nepal run by a collaboration between AWF (Architects without Frontiers) and AAA (Aussie Action Abroad).

On Christmas Day this year I will set out to travel alongside a handful of other volunteers to the remote village of Sera, situated in the heart of the Annapurna Region and work alongside local tradesmen and NGOs to facilitate the design & construction of a Mothers Community Center.

In 2015 a big region of Central Nepal was destroyed by a severe earthquake. About 9,000 people were killed, many thousands more were injured, and more than 600,000 structures in Kathmandu and other nearby towns and remote villages were either damaged or completely destroyed.

AWF and AAA are doing an amazing job helping the rattled and poor Region with their big-hearted people to rebuild their infrastructure and communal buildings to a better standard.
