Ruban is a refugee I befriended when visiting the on-shore detention centre called Yongah Hill which is about 90mins of Perth, Australia. After 6 years in detention and failed appeals to be allowed to stay - Ruban opted to go back to Sri Lanka where as a Tamil his life was in constant danger.
On going back he elected to go to a refugee camp in India where his wife and 2 children had managed to flee. It was there that he had his leg broken by a police officer wielding a heavy club. Tamil refugees are targeted and beaten so that they leave India.
Ruban managed to raise the money required for surgery from the small amount he had saved from menial work around the camp, but has nothing left to remove the screws from his leg which need urgent removal so as not to destroy his knee and ankle. He is in great pain and can’t walk or even stand without the screws digging into his flesh.
Please help Ruban raise the modest sum of $3500 required for this final surgery on his leg so he can work to feed his family.
Ruban has his leg broken in an unprovoked attack by a policeman in India. Ruban is in a refugee camp with his wife and two children and needs this plosives he can walk and work again to feed his family.
