Today we received the good news that the Archbishop’s house in Colombo has agreed to cover the surgical expenses for Thilina. While this is a good news for her and her family, there will be ongoing post surgery medical expenses that needs to be covered, so we’ll use the funds collected from this fundraiser to help her with her recovery.
Date- 06 May 2019
*Thilina Harshani*, a 35 year-old mother of three young kids was a victim of the Easter attack in Katuwapitiya, Negombo, Sri Lanka. One of the kids (Dulodh Anthony) also lost his life in the same attack. She is currently fighting for her life in the ICU and awaiting spinal surgery at a private hospital in Colombo. As *she is in a critical condition, her surgery must be done this week.*
The hospital estimates the *cost of the surgery and related medical initial expenses to be roughly LKR 10 Million and overall expenses to be notified as soon as possible.* She had a C7 body fracture caused by a bomb pellet and is currently on ventilator support. She has lost her eyesight permanently, and is facing the possibility of quadriplegia (paralysis of all four limbs).
She has had multiple surgeries, and now urgently requires three more surgeries, including a cervical vertebra 7 replacement. The spinal surgery has to be performed by one of the most experienced surgeons in Sri Lanka. To this end, her family earnestly requests donors to contribute financially so that they can go ahead with the surgeries immediately.
An authentication document and quotation from the hospital are pending. Donors may contact Dagma Abeysinghe, Coordinator - Brain and Spine Center, Asiri Central Hospital on +9411 466 5500/+9477 397 3550 or dagma@asiri.lk for confirmation.
