Push N Wood - Murray Marathon 2019

Push N Wood is taking on the Murray Marathon in November, which is a 404km canoeing and kayaking marathon on the Murray River starting at Yarrawonga and finishing at Swan Hill. For some this is their first time taking on the challenge, for some this is their 9th time! This year is also the 50th anniversary of the Murray Marathon.

Team's are able to nominate their chosen charity to raise money for and Push N Wood has decided to raise money for Huntington's Victoria.

Every one of us carries the Huntingtin gene which assists nerve cells in functioning effectively. For some of us, the gene is faulty, leading to Huntington’s disease – a fatal genetic condition. This disease does not discriminate between race, gender, ethnicity and age. While this devastating disease might not be well known within the wider community, it is not rare. It could affect someone you know.

The Parsonage family who form part of the Push N Wood team have a cousins family who is affected by Huntington's disease so this cause is very close to our teams heart.

Huntington’s Victoria has an array of support services accessible to those impacted by Huntington's disease (HD). Their Client Support Services team provides information and links to vital services as well as educates health professionals and direct care staff on how best to support those impacted by HD through our Education Program. As a registered service provider for the NDIS, they also provide NDIS Support Coordination to assist with a range of disability services under the scheme.
