The need to succeed

Robert Humberdross is a true Aussie battler. Someone who always helps others and never asks for anything in return. Robert has fought for his life in so many ways. His first major battle was for his life when a drunk driver on the wrong side of the road and speeding nearly took his life. Robert spent a long time in hospital fighting to stay alive. With so many injuries Robert suffered a broken back, partly severed spinal cord, severe damage to his right leg with the end result of it having to be cut off. Robert battled other injuries but these at the time the worst of them all. Robert whilst in hospital went through a hard recovery stage. Having to learn how to walk again and learning how to deal with what had happened to him. Robert is a dear friend of mine who I know has battled cancer since the accident and survived. Unfortunately Robert is now facing more problems because of the accident some 30 years ago.

Roberts shoulders have worn out and he is needing help to be able to afford an artificial leg and the operation that comes with it. Robert needs this leg before he can have his shoulders repaired because once his shoulders are both operated on Robert will no longer be able to get around. He will be confined to a wheel chair or bed full time. Unfortunately in a wheel chair he will need assistance full time as Robert will not be able to move the wheel chair by himself. A very independent man stuck with no way to even be able to toilet, shower or cook for himself any longer.

Doctors want to operate on Robert's shoulders next month in September. Over the course of the 30 plus years from using crutches to mobilize both of Robert's shoulders have worn out to the point that using the crutches causes great pain making it harder for Robert.

With the artificial leg Robert would be able to mobilize easier he would be able to get around in a little less pain. He would be able to have his shoulders operated on without the fear of losing what little mobilization he has left. With still keeping a little pride and dignity . Robert has told the Dr's that he can't have the operation yet. And has put it off enduring all the pain and discomfort just in the hope that we can help him. He knows what is going to happen if he has the shoulders operated on and without the artificial leg Robert also knows how much worse life will get for him.

So I ask and even beg from one Aussie to another please help me show Robbie that we can stick together and help one another out when times are so hard. I know that we as Australians no matter what can stick together and I am out to prove that to all those who have lost faith. I hope that you are able to donate and share this with your friends.
