My name is Som Tamang, I am from a remote village in the Himalayas of Nepal.
I'm supporting Samir to attend different races and same time I'm helping build school in Priti village where Samir was born. Samir's next challenge is Ultra Trail Australia, he will be competing in the 50K category on the 20th of May, 2017. During his time in Australia, he will also be raising awareness about the educational issues in Nepal and what can you do to help Nepal.
In 2015, the Earthquake devastated my village, the school was reduced to rubble. The land on which the school was located became dangerous due to landslides. For the safety of the children, the school has to be abandoned and rebuilt in a different location.
we need your help to build a new school. This school will have such a huge impact on so many peoples lives. It will be the first school ever in that region where students can attend up to Grade 10, it means that young people will have opportunities to further their education and hopefully work towards ending the poverty they live in. We will work hard towards encouraging girls to attend school and through offering them the opportunity to attend Grade 9 and 10, it will end the issues of child marriage and human trafficking. Educating girls can change the world.
