Thankyou so much for visiting my Fundraising Page for MND!
I thought I'd begin by introducing myself as the average 18 year old that I am. My name is Sarah and I live in Gellibrand, Victoria. I spend most of my days doing school work (my not-so-fabulous VCE responsibilities), working on anything creative or art-based and on developing and improving my personal fitness.
When I initially enrolled to participate in the Melbourne Tough Mudder Half I thought of it nothing more than a fun challenge to do with a few of my friends. Getting to dive entirely into mud for approximately 10 kilometres seemed almost pleasant and rejuvenating for the skin. However, I knew it wasn't going to be easy, because nothing that's worth doing is easy. I saw on the Tough Mudder website that they had mentioned sponsorship and fundraising as a method of making the experience more memorable and meaningful and I knew exactly what cause I needed to support.
Having family members that suffer with MND, I have watched first-hand the effects that it has on a person. It is unforgiving and relentless, to say the least. It's excruciatingly painful to watch someone degenerate due to such a disease. Knowing that you can't do anything but support them and attempt to understand what they're going through is frustrating and saddening.
I've known about the MND Victoria foundation for many years now and have attended many fundraisers along with other members of my family. In participating in this Tough Mudder Half I believe that through the sponsorship of even a few people, not only can we make my experience there more meaningful, but we can also help to change the lives and prospects of anyone who suffers with MND.
Update: I must sadly update this description. My Gran, of whom was suffering with MND for the past 18 months, passed away on the 16th of October 2016. Her passing was not a shock to our family, however the pain of her loss is being felt by the entirety of our large family. This fundraiser will, of course, continue and I will work even harder to help raise awareness and funds for those that suffer with MND. Please donate. It would mean the world to me and my family.

The Colac Rock & Roll club are donating to MND thru the efforts of Sarah in participating in Tough Mudder. We selected this cause because one of our long term members passed away from MND. Sarah's grandmother who also passed away after suffering from MND is the mother of another member of our club, so the whole club has had close experience with the effects of this disease and the effects on those suffering and their families. We wish Sarah good luck in her efforts in both the event and her fundraising.
