G Fights the Ugly C

Our Gabrielle was diagnosed with stage 2, grade 3 breast cancer in February 2015, just before her 31st birthday. GG is a wife, mum, sister, daughter and just an all round gorgeous woman, inside as well as out. She's endured 18 weeks of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy and radiotherapy over the last year in her battle against the Ugly C.

I could write pages and pages about what a seriously crap and rotten time it's been for Gab and her family. Even as I write it's hard to find the words that can accurately describe the physical, emotional and financial struggle... As anyone who's dealt with cancer knows all that doesn't end when the treatment stops. The recovery process is long and with further surgery coming up in May it's going to be another slow road for Gabrielle to get back on her feet.

G has two beautiful kids and the most amazing, supportive husband you can imagine, as well as her incredible parents and siblings. Her extended family have also all supported her throughout this time and I know how grateful she is for everyone's love and support. Because she's also Wonder Woman and even in the midst of this always puts others before herself, last year she raised over $7000 for the Cancer Council ACT by hosting her own Girls' Night In. In her words...

"Thank you everyone who has supported me & my fundraising efforts. For the 15,000 women and men who will be diagnosed with breast cancer next year & the years to come, I truly hope treatment continues to improve each time. I think those who have experienced it will agree we don’t wish it upon any one in the world! I won’t forget and will continue to do what I can for all of you who are fighting breast cancer and for those who are yet to hear the dreaded words..."

We really want to try and raise some money for this awesome woman as she continues her treatment, and when she gets the official all clear in ten years we're going to party like mad and scream and cry and laugh together.
