WE NEED YOUR HELP!

In 2015 over 35,000 people attended the ANZAC Day Dawn Service at Currumbins’ Elephant Rock to honor the memory and the commitment of those who have proudly served our country. We were overwhelmed and humbled by the attendance and recognition received nationally and internationally.

In 2015, Currumbin Palm Beach Sub Branch contributed over $240,000 to the operational costs of the service.

Although telecast throughout the world, there has never been money exchanged for sponsorship or television rights. In fact, we are lucky to have the support of our television partner, who year after year contribute very large amounts of their own money to showcase the event on TV, with limited commercials to ensure people all around the world who are unable to attend an event can watch it live on TV. This is NOT a commercial activity for the TV station, however a commitment of their time and dedication to our ANZACs.

We are avid supports of the ANZAC tradition and consider it a privilege to organise this event. Our core objective at Currumbin RSL is to serve the interests of its members, veterans, the ex-service community and members of the Australian Defence Force.

With the significant impact war is having on our current day living and as the attendance numbers rise, so to do the cost associated with putting on a world class event that honours the memory of the ANZACs.

We want to continue to share this special event with everyone but the ongoing costs over the years are simply not sustainable.

With hundreds of service men and women still being deployed to conflict and war zones annually, the effects of service are very real. We are seeing first hand that there is an increased need for support for our younger Defense Force service personnel who have seen active service.  Large numbers are returning with either psychological or physical wounds. Sadly, the number of contemporary veteran suicides is at an all-time high.

Our returned service personnel and their families need help after they have freely given of themselves to fight against terrorism and for the rights for all Australians and the free world to live in peace.

To support these Veterans and their families, the Currumbin RSL group would like to provide direct assistance financially via support services such as Solider On and Cam’s Cause.  However, the current available funds are being allocated to deliver the ANZAC Day events we’ve all come to love – Currumbin dawn service.

The Currumbin RSL desperately want to reallocate some of the funds spent on future ANZAC Day events to these services, but we can’t do this without your help.

Contribute to the ANZAC day event fundraising cause and help keep the ANZAC Spirit alive this year and for many years to come
