Emilys Track Wheelchair Fundraising

A big Hello to everyone !!

My name is Emily Preketes. I am a 20 year old girl that suffers from a Genetic Disorder called Hereditary spastic Paraparesis, which has left me in a wheelchair since the age of 7.

I am trying to raise funds to buy a new customized Track Wheelchair. I was involved in 2 separate accidents while competing in wheelchair races and my chair is beyond repair and has affected my racing times and improvement .

I am a very determined young lady with a heart of gold and my moto in life is "Nothing is impossible No Matter what life throws at you"
However I need help to raise these funds as we are not able to afford a new track Wheelchair.

A New Chair is like having new legs - I need this in order to go where I want to go - Become a Paralympian

At the age of 7 I started playing Wheelchair basketball and did so for many years till January 2014 ( OZ Day 10km GIO Wheelchair race) . This was my inspiration and my turning in my career as an athlete. I decided then and there that Track and Road Wheelchair Racing is my passion and this is the sport I wanted to exceed all my expectations.

For the last 1.5 years I have been training hard both on road and track. I have been mentored by the best of the best. My coach is Angela Ballard, and she motivates me and is helping to achieve my dream of becoming a Paralympian. Every Saturday I go to a Development Group at Sydney Olympic Park where we are mentored and trained by Paralympians. Throughout the week I follow my couches program 3-4 times a week training both on road and track.


My whole family supports me in what I do and support and encourage me to go after my dream. To one day compete in the Paralympics - To do this though, I need to raise funds and the only way we can do this is through donations from people who can give.!

I would truly appreciate any help with any donations no matter how small. It would mean the world to me to be able to achieve my dream and to continue my journey. The only way this dream can become a reality is by the help of donations and sponsors
